About our “Secret Stay” at the Akti Beach Hotel Paphos, Cyprus.
Just so you know, when we undertake a “Share Cyprus Secret Stay”, the owner(s) do not know we are visiting.
We pay the going rate for our stay and book in a personal name (not as Share Cyprus).

Helpful information about our "Secret Stay"
Dates and Prices
- Date of our stay: 17-18th November 2023
- Price Paid: €110 (superior room including breakfast)
Our Room
For our secret stay, we booked a superior double room and as you can see in our video above and the photos here, it was spacious, modern and clean.
The lighting was excellent (and you can change this easily to suit your mood) and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The bathroom was also spacious and spotlessly clean.
At first, we were a little confused because we couldn’t see shampoo, shower gel or spare loo roll.
Thankfully, we located everything we were looking for in the large drawer under the sink!
No mini bar!
Our room had no mini bar, but it did have a full-sized under-counter fridge.
For longer stays, this is perfect because you can stock your fridge up with full-size drinks, juices and even fresh milk for your morning coffee.
The downside is that if you arrive after the onsite mini-market has closed, as we did, you are left with no soft drinks or snacks for the first night.
Therefore, if you are arriving later in the evening (considering there are no shops within quick walking distance of the Akti Beach Hotel), it’s worth stopping at a shop en route to buy drinks and snacks for your first night.
Other things to note about the Akti Beach Hotel, Paphos
Not all rooms are refurbished!
It’s important to note that we spoke to a few guests who told us that their rooms were quite old-fashioned (especially the garden villas). Therefore, the hotel appears to be “rolling out” the modernisation in stages.
It’s not set on a traditional beach!
The hotel is located on the seafront in a stunning location. However, if you want a hotel with a soft sandy beach, this isn’t the place!
The hotel is next to a rocky shoreline and cove, not a traditional beach.
That said, as you can see in the picture below, the hotel has created a small “beach-type area” for guests.
We also note that this area in front of the hotel is a popular swimming spot for tourists and locals and you can use the wooden ramp provided to get into the sea.
The photo below shows exactly where you enter the sea using this wooden ramp.
Other facilities
Both outdoor pools are a good size, the indoor pool is pleasant enough, and the gym is reasonable.
During our stay, the tennis court looked pretty worn out.
We are unsure if this was because it was towards the end of the season or whether it’s just old and not used very much!
Nothing is “spectacular” but “good” considering the price of a stay at this hotel.
“Location, Location”
The hotel is nestled alongside other hotels, but if you are looking to head out to local bars, restaurants, etc., be aware that the location of this hotel isn’t within walking distance of any of the major tourist hubs.
If you are venturing out, you’ll want to head to Paphos (a 10-minute drive or taxi ride) or to Coral Bay (a 15-minute drive or taxi ride).
You can also use public transport, but the hotel is also set back from the main road.
Therefore, if you want to take advantage of the frequent public bus services between Coral Bay and Paphos, which run every 15-20 minutes in both directions, you’ll need to walk for about 10 minutes to reach the nearest bus stop.
We note there is also a regular bus service from the hotel’s nearest bus stop to Geroskipou Beach, a popular 600-meter beach with three beach bars, showers and changing areas.
Finally, on this topic, the Akti Beach Beach Hotel also offers a Shuttle Bus service to Paphos Old Town and Paphos Harbour. The service runs at different times of day for an additional charge, and you book your place at the hotel reception.
Hotel Atmosphere
Considering the time of year, the hotel was quite busy and later in the evening, there was a good atmosphere in the bar.
It’s all basic in terms of the decor in the lobby and bar, but not unpleasant.
Food & mealtimes
Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to sample lunch or dinner at the hotel, but the breakfast was good!
The hotel offers an all-inclusive package, half board and bed & breakfast and the meal times at the time of our stay were as follows:
- Breakfast: 07.00-10.00am
- Lunch: 12.30-14.30 (Full Buffet)
- Dinner: 19.00-21.00 (Full Buffet)
- Snacks: 10.30-12.00 & 15.30-17.00
The Serina Cocktail Bar
The Serina cocktail bar is open from 18.30 until midnight.
Checkout Time
12.00 noon
Our conclusion?
This pleasant, friendly, four-star hotel is working hard to deliver value for money!
